Stoltenberg does not rule out Russia violates INF nuclear treaty

NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg said Russian violations of the 1987 nuclear treaty with the US meant it was no longer effective.

At a press conference in Brussels, Stoltenberg said the U.S. was complying with the arms control treaty, the problem was Russia. He said that the treaty could not be effective if only one side was respecting it. NATO was still assessing the implications of the US decision.

"All allies agree that the United States in full compliance ... the problem, the threat, the challenge is Russian behaviour," Reuters cited Stoltenberg as saying.
