A suicide car bomber has struck a police station in the Syrian capital of Damascus, state television said, citing the interior ministry.
The al-Ikhbariyeh TV station says the bomber detonated his vehicle in front of a police station in the capital's al-Midan neighbourhood. It says two attackers blew themselves up in the same place, with one managing to enter the station.
The pro-Damascus al-Mayadeen TV channel meanwhile reported that as many as four militants were involved in total, and that more than 10 people - both civilians and police officials - were killed in the incident.
State media said earlier that a “terrorist explosion” had struck the area but there was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack, the Independent reported.
