The authorities of Abkhazia have planned several flight destinations for Sukhumi Airport, which should resume its work. Information about this was announced by the Head of the republic, Aslan Bzhania, during the economic forum in St. Petersburg.

He noted that the Sukhumi Airport would serve up to 1 million passengers.

In addition to this, he clarified that seven flight destinations were to be open in the airport at once.

"According to experts, tourists visiting Abkhazia account for approximately 11% of air traffic in Sochi. At the end of last year, Sochi airport served 12 million people. This means that we have 1 million passengers",

Aslan Bzhania said.

An agreement on the restoration of Sukhumi Airport was signed last year. It is planned that the opening will take place before the end of this year.
