Today, in the Turkish province of Antalya, the summit of the leaders of the 'Big Twenty' (G20) starts its work, it will last for two days. In addition to the member countries and representatives of the European Union, the heads of Azerbaijan, Zimbabwe, Malaysia, Senegal and Singapore were invited to the event.
It is also expected that the event will be attended by the management of key international organizations, including the UN, World Bank, WTO, IMF and ILO.
Out of the twenty leaders of the 'Big Twenty', French President Francois Hollande will not be able to come to Turkey, he cancelled his visit in connection with the terrorist attacks in Paris, which took place on the night before November 14th, as well as Argentine President Cristina Kirchner because of the elections in the country.
The opening of the summit is scheduled for 13:00 (MSK). Then the working session will begin, which will discuss the global economy, employment and investment strategies. In the evening, participants of the summit will discuss the issue of terrorism and the refugee crisis. The second day will focus on financial regulation, reform of the IMF, anti-corruption activities. At the last session participants will discuss energy and international trade.
In conclusion, the leaders of the 'Big Twenty' will promulgate a communiqué and an action plan for the next period of activity, followed by a ceremonial transfer of the chairmanship from Turkey to China.
It should be noted that the agenda of the summit is subject to change in connection with the tragic events in France.
The Turkish authorities have taken unprecedented security measures. Almost the whole of Belek, which will host the event, has been blocked off. According to Turkish media, Turkey spent 100 million dollars on preparations for the summit, RIA Novosti writes.
Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold a number of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the G20 summit. In particular, today the Russian leader will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping, head of the IMF Christine Lagarde, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, among the topics for discussion will be the situation in Syria and Ukraine.
On Monday, November 16, Vladimir Putin will meet with British Prime Minister David Cameron, Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi and King of Saudi Arabia Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud. A formal bilateral meeting between Putin and US President Barack Obama is not planned.
