Ex-leader of the Syrian Kurds Salih Muslim will not be extradited to Turkey, despite Ankara's official demand, since he already crossed Sweden's border, the Swedish Justice Ministry official Cecilia Riddselius said.
She said that, according to the police, Muslim is no longer on Sweden's territory, TASS reported.
Turkey had delivered a protest note to Sweden demanding to arrest the former leader of Syria's Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) Saleh Muslim, the CNN Turk broadcaster reported.
Salih Muslim is wanted by Turkey, which has requested his extradition from several European countries on terrorism charges. Muslim is a former co-chair of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), the dominant Kurdish political party in Syria that he helped found in 2003.
