The Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallstrom visited Georgia and met with top officials.
The main topic of the talks was the bilateral cooperation, particular attention was paid to the deepening of economic relations. In this regard, the great role of the Swedish Agency for International Development Cooperation (SIDA) was stressed.
The main message of the head of the Swedish Foreign Ministry was the support of Georgia's European integration. Wallström expressed this position at meetings with the President Giorgi Margvelashvili, Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Georgian Parliament Speaker David Usupashvili and her counterpart Mikheil Janelidze. The Swedish Foreign Minister promised that Sweden will maintain Georgia's commitment to becoming a member of the EU, Sputnik Georgia reports.
In addition, Wahlström discussed the situation in the region and the forthcoming parliamentary elections in Georgia, expressing hope that they will take place in accordance with the highest international standards.
