Damascus voiced its version of Turkish-Syrian normalization: the countries must return to the relations of 2010, foreign troops must be withdrawn from Syria.
Today, the Syrian Foreign Ministry published its version of the principles for normalizing Turkish-Syrian relations. The Damascus project is based on the requirement to return to the state of 2010, before the civil war had begun in Syria, which escalated into the seizure of the territory of the republic by terrorist organizations.
The Syrian Foreign Ministry explained that 2010 was the last year of secure and stable ties between Damascus and Ankara, and therefore, Damascus proposes not to take in account the events of the last 13 years, but to resume the old one.
The Syrian ministry added that this fundamental principle and any other realistic options for normalization include the withdrawal of foreign troops from the sovereign territory of Syria and the elimination of terrorist organizations.
