Damascus refuses to agree to Tel Aviv's proposal for a buffer zone on the Syrian-Israeli border, unless the Syrian government exercises control there, Ahmed al-Sharaa says.

Syrian Interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa, speaking at the Doha Forum in Qatar, spoke out against the Israeli government's proposal to establish a buffer zone on the Syrian-Israeli border.

He explained that the Israeli initiative fails to clarify the key question: who will ensure security in this zone and, therefore, control it.
