Parliamentary elections were held in Syria on Wednesday. Over 3,500 candidates contested the 250 seats in Syria's parliament, Sputnik International reports.
"The number of citizens who participated in the elections to the People's Council amounted to 57.56 percent [of the electorate]," the commission said in a statement, as quoted by the SANA news agency.
