Syrian man causes panic in Antalya airport

A Syrian man shouted “Allahu Akbar” as he passed through security at a major Turkish airport in Antalya.

The man was going through security checks in the outbound terminal when he reportedly screamed: “I have a bomb on me.” He was detained by police and airport security as terrified passengers watched on following the threat, Daily Express reports.

An eyewitness said the Syrian man was caught as he tried to pass his luggage through the airport’s X-ray machines before telling security he was carrying a bomb. The suspect has since been taken to a local police station after being removed from the airport. The man is believed to have had family problems and he may have been high on marijuana, according to local media reports.

CNN Turkey has reported that the man may have been “mentally unbalanced”.
