Today the Kyrgyz Prosecutor General's Office announced the initiation of a criminal case against the former Minister of Defense, Taalaybek Omuraliev, and several other officials of the Ministry of Defense.
The articles under which the minister and his associates are being judged are "Misappropriation or embezzlement of entrusted property," "Abuse of power" and "Service forgery".
As the Prosecutor General's Office explained, it relates to financial fraud with the state enterprise 'Asker Kurulush'. In April 2013, the Ministry signed an agreement with the company to carry out construction work for the sum of 5 million soms (about 70 thousand dollars).
"However, the funds mentioned above, were not used for their intended purpose by the state enterprise and were illegally transferred to the accounts of commercial structures, where they were illegally for two years," TASS cites the report of the Prosecutor General of Kyrgyzstan.
