Representatives of the Taliban Islamist movement have denied information about the death of their leader Mullah Omar, SKYNews reports.
According to the Islamists, Mullah Omar "is alive" and rumors about his death were spread in order to make the leader appear in public, RIA Novosti reports.
Earlier, it was reported that the son of Omar had supposedly confirmed that his father had died a few years ago.
"According to my information, Mullah Omar is alive and leading the movement," a spokesman for the Taliban stated.
The Afghan authorities claim that at the present time the information is being checked.
