Tamerlan Aguzarov elected as head of North Ossetia

The parliament has elected Tamerlan Aguzarov as the head of the Republic of North Ossetia. "Tamerlan Aguzarov has been elected as head of the Republic with 66 votes, only one member voted against,’’ RIA Novosti quotes parliamentary speaker Alexey Machnev.

The other two candidates – secretary of the regional Public Chamber, Elbrus Bokoev, and regional deputy, Elena Knyazeva – could not get a single vote. At the same time, 26 and 25 members voted against them respectively.

The new head of the region will take office today.

At the same meeting it was decided to elect a former head of the republic, Taymuraz Mamsurov, as a member of the parliament of North Ossetia.

As noted in an interview to Vestnik Kavkaza by the head of the neighboring republic of Ingushetia, Yunus-bek Yevkurov, Tamerlan Aguzarov can cope with his new work. ‘’He is a known person in Ossetia. He has worked as a deputy, that means he is fully developed as a leader, understanding the situation in the republic," he stressed.
