Tanker incident ends in sea off Istanbul

According to the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO), the incident between the two tankers has been resolved without the need for rescue services.

 

"Efforts to remove the Kalbajar tanker's anchor chain from the Alatepe tanker's propeller blades in the Küçükçekmece anchorage area in Istanbul due to adverse weather conditions have been successfully completed",

ASCO reported.

The situation was resolved when the crew of the Azerbaijani tanker restarted its engine and maneuvered into deeper water. No damage to the vessel or the marine environment has been reported.

The incident occurred during a severe storm in the Sea of Marmara.
