Iran and Saudi Arabia confirmed their earlier agreements to open embassies and consulates, according to a joint statement by Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud following talks in Beijing.

"The sides agreed to reopen the two countries’ embassies within agreed timeframes and take the necessary measures to open embassies in Riyadh and Tehran and consulates in Jeddah and Mashhad," reads the document posted on the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s Telegram channel.

In addition, Tehran and Riyadh underscored "the readiness to remove every obstacle to expanding cooperation between the two countries." They are set to boost cooperation in any sphere in order "to ensure the region’s security and stability."

Iran and Saudi Arabia are also planning to intensify discussions for "an even brighter prospect of relations, as the two countries have natural and economic resources and a huge potential to achieve the common good."
