The situation in Syria in the context of the fight against terrorism has improved significantly, the speaker of the Iranian Parliament Ali Larijani said, noting that terrorism in Iraq was virtually defeated.
Nevertheless, there are "factors in Iran that influence this issue," he said during a meeting with Speaker of the Russian State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin on the sidelines of the 137th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
In addition, Larijani pointed to the very good experience of Russia and Iran in the fight against terrorism. "From the very beginning we believed that there should be a political decision in Syria, there is no military solution to this issue," the speaker of the Iranian parliament said.
"Iran-Russia cooperation on security issues has been successful," RIA Novosti cited him as saying.
