Tehran has started preliminary discussions with European oil companies Total, Eni and Saipem on their participation in the development of oil and gas fields in the Persian Gulf, the executive director of the Iranian Offshore Oil Company Saeed Hafezi said.
He specified that, in total, Iran has six fields that could be developed in cooperation with foreign investors. They will talk about them during the presentation ceremony of the new model of oil contracts.
Hafezi added that Tehran is going to propose joint gas production at the Salman field to the UAE. In addition, they are already holding talks with the Norwegian and Austrian companies about work at the Esfandiar oil field.
According to Hafezi, negotiations with companies from the United States are out of the question, RIA Novosti reports.
