The correspondent of the German newspaper Die Welt, Alfred Hackensberger, notes that the first blows on the Russian base at Latakia started a week ago. "Their aim is not the position of the army of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, nor the competing militias, but Russia," the journalist wrote.
Alfred Hackensberger said that during a day the terrorists launch about 50 shells from the nearby mountains on the Russian positions, but only two of them have "exploded near the air base."
The German journalist also wrote that there are several groups in the mountains near Latakia, formed entirely of Chechens, who bear a grudge against Russia.
