The Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Thorbjorn Jagland, has praised the reforms carried out in Georgia.
"I was glad to hear that both the constitutional and the judicial reforms in Georgia are carried out successfully ... The chairmen of both courts have assured me that they have made important steps on the path to the independence and impartiality of the judicial system," Sputnik Georgia quotes him as saying.
The head of the Council of Europe also noted the progress in reforming the electoral system. "Opposition leaders have already set up a cross-party group on electoral reform, which is good .... I was glad to see that the opposition leaders have formed a united front, despite their differences on many other issues," he stressed.
