Russian Agriculture Minister Alexander Tkachev said at a meeting on agriculture that it is necessary to allocate an additional 30 billion rubles a year for five years in order to meet 99% of the demand for food by our own efforts.
For example, the agricultural sector is to receive 27 billion rubles for its development and the implementation of existing programs in 2016. The Minister noted that "only 20% of this amount will be used in order to support new investment projects." "These 20% won’t close the deficit in vegetables or fruits, as well as beef and milk during the next five years. This is quite an obvious fact,’’ he added.
It should be noted that today's meeting was held by President Vladimir Putin.
