The Transcaucasus highway was opened to traffic six days after it had been closed due to the avalanche danger, the office of engineering and highway operations ‘Caucasus’ reports.
The clearing of avalanches from the road in the area of the Roksky tunnel is completed. Safe passage on two lanes is open from 20.00 Moscow time today.
The report states that over the past three days, 43 avalanches have descended on one of the most dangerous sections of the Transcaucasus highway, the snow depth on the road exceeded 1 meter.
