Trudeau fires Canada ambassador to China

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has dismissed Canada's ambassador to China, John McCallum after the latter made controversial remarks about the extradition of Huawei senior executive, News.am reported citing BBC.

In an interview with The Toronto Star, McCallum said “from Canada's point of view, if (the U.S.) drops the extradition request, that would be great for Canada.”

Meng Wanzhou, senior executive at Huawei, was detained a month ago at the request of the United States. She is accused of alleged violations of US sanctions on Iran.
