US President Donald Trump said that he had secured commitments from the European Union for the construction of nine to 11 ports to import US liquefied natural gas (LNG) to boost U.S. exports.
"And we (the US) are already talking to the European Union about building anywhere from 9 to 11 ports, which they will pay for, so that we can ship our LNG over to various parts of Europe," Trump said. "And that will be more competition," he added during a joint press conference at the White House with Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte.
Trump portrayed the commitment as a victory in his “fantastic meeting” with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker last week, the Washington Post reported.
