Trump: I don't need Congress's approval to strike Iran

U.S. President Donald Trump said he could initiate a military strike against Iran without congressional approval.

Trump said in an interview with The Hill that he disagreed with Speaker Nancy Pelosi's position, who said that the “hostilities must not be initiated without the approval of Congress.”

According to the U.S. leader, he believes he had the authority to take military action against Iran without first going to Congress.

"But we’ve been keeping Congress abreast of what we’re doing ... and I think it’s something they appreciate," he said. "I do like keeping them abreast, but I don’t have to do it legally."
