Türkiye will not abandon the S-400 air defense systems currently in service with the Turkish armed forces, the Turkish Defense Ministry confirmed.
"The S-400 air defense systems are still in service with our armed forces. Our position regarding the S-400 remains unchanged",
the Turkish Defense Ministry stated.
According to earlier media reports, Türkiye allegedly intended to dispose of the Russian-made systems, either through sale or return to Russia.
The S-400 acquisition previously triggered significant controversy. The Pentagon blocked Ankara's participation in the aircraft's development and operation program due to Türkiye's acquisition of Russian air defense systems. The country's authorities are trying to negotiate with the USA to restore the republic's participation in the fighter jet program.
