Tunisia detects first cases of British COVID-19 variant

Tunisia has recorded its first cases of a highly contagious variant of the coronavirus first identified in Britain, the country’s Health Ministry said.

The ministry, however, did not provide any information on how many cases of the variant it has recorded.

According to the World Health Organization, the mutation has appeared in at least 86 countries so far.

Tunisia registered 392 more virus cases, 21 deaths, and 722 recoveries on Monday, Anadolu agency reported.

The North African country’s overall caseload stands at over 233,600, including 8,022 deaths and more than 198,700 recoveries.
