Turkey and EU close their airspace to Russian long-range aviation

The EU countries and Turkey have closed their airspace to Russian long-range aviation, which is taking part in the military operation against Daesh. This was stated by Russian deputy commander of long-range aviation, Major-General Anatoly Konovalov.

According to him, Russian planes use a roundabout route.

"Olenegorsk is the northernmost of our airfields that allows you to increase the reach and carry out refuelling in the air. There were certain moments that excluded the possibility of using other options in order to perform the necessary tasks. Europe and Turkey didn’t allow us to do it,’’ RIA Novosti cites him as saying.
