Turkey asks EU for additional funds for refugees, media report

The Turkish authorities have appealed to the European Union with a request to allocate 5 billion euros for the settlement of the refugee situation, RNS reports with reference to Die Welt.

"Ankara wants 5 billion euros, but we are ready to give only the promised 3 billion euros," a source of the newspaper stated.

Earlier, the head of European diplomacy Federica Mogherini called for intensified assistance to Turkey in the issues of refugees.

According to the Turkish Minister for EU Affairs Volkan Bozkir, Turkey will receive 3 billion euros promised by the EU to settle the issue Syrian refugees before the end of February, the Turkish news agency Anadolu reports.
