Turkish Defence Minister Hulusi Akar said Ankara had completed preparations for the operation against Kurds in Syria east of the Euphrates River.
Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced a military operation against Syrian Kurds in Manbij and to the east of Euphrates but later postponed it in light of his recent talks with U.S. President Donald Trump.
On December 19, Trump declared that the U.S. has won against the ISIS terror group operating in Syria and made the announcement he was bringing home all U.S. forces from the war-torn country.
