Turkey's Izmir closed for Syrian migrants

Syrian migrants are not allowed to enter Turkey's Izmir. The reason is that Syrian migrants are using Izmir as a transit point for illegally entering the territory of European countries. More than 60,000 migrants were expelled from Izmir.

According to Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), Ankara has spent more than $5.5 billion to support the Syrian refugees.

Currently, there are more than 2 million Syrian refugees in Turkey, the refugee camps accommodate only 300,000 people, the rest of them are spread throughout the provinces of Turkey.There are currently 40,000 refugees from Syria in Istanbul.
