Turkey's population increases to 80 million due to refugees

The director of the Migration Service under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkey, Atilla Toros, said that the country's population, taking into account the refugees from the Middle East, has exceeded 80 million people.

According to official data, 2.5 million Syrian refugees live in Turkey. It is worth noting that in early 2015 the country's own population amounted to 77.7 million people.

According to the estimates of experts, this year Ankara spent 8 billion dollars on supporting refugees from Syria, Iraq and other countries, Trend reports.
