Turkish Airlines plane searched after note threatening 'bomb attack' found on board at Istanbul Airport

A Turkish Airlines plane is being searched at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport after a note was found on board threatening a bomb attack.

An airline spokesman said all 134 people, including the crew, who had been on board the aircraft for the flight to the central Turkish city of Kayseri had been evacuated.

Tensions among airlines serving the region are high after EgyptAir flight MS804crashed into the Mediterranean on Thursday.

Investigators are looking into whether a device was placed on the Airbus A320 from Paris to Cairo before it went missing with 66 people on board, including one Brit

Turkish Airlines has received bomb threats in the past. In 2011 a Turkish passenger on a Turkish Airlines flight from Oslo to Istanbul tried to hijack the plane before being overpowered by other passengers.

Yaşar Cuma, the would-be hijacker, headed for the cockpit of the Boeing 737-800 less than an hour before the flight’s arrival in Istanbul and demanded that the aircraft return to Oslo, claiming to have a bomb.
