Turkish Foreign Ministry: We wait for fulfillment of all commitments from Sweden and Finland to join NATO

Following talks with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said at a press conference in Istanbul that Sweden and Finland have not fulfilled all of Ankara's conditions for joining the alliance yet.

"Türkiye always stands for the expansion and strengthening of NATO. We do not slow down the process of NATO enlargement", the minister said first of all.

"Finland and Sweden have lifted the embargo and amended the legislation, but this is not enough. We are waiting for the fulfillment of all the commitments that they have made. There are no questions with Finland regarding admission to NATO, but Sweden must fulfill all its commitments under the Madrid memorandum", Cavusoglu said.

At the same press conference, Stoltenberg said that Sweden and Finland had fulfilled their obligations to Türkiye and it was time to accept them into NATO.
