The Turkish Foreign Ministry has denied reports that from June 1st 2016 its visa-free regime with 89 countries will be abolished. Information about this appeared in the media earlier. It was reported that, due to the negotiations between Turkey and the EU on liberalization of their visa regime, Ankara will have to close its borders to countries that do not have the right to visa-free visits to the European Union.
"The negotiations with the EU on the issue of releasing our citizens from needing a Schengen visa continue. Our commitment to comply fully with the line of the EU visa policy towards third countries is essential, when we receive full membership of the EU,’’ Tass cites the text of the statement of the Turkish Foreign Ministry.
