The third largest cathedral mosque - Kuzey Ankara Merkez Camisi - was opened today in Ankara, Turkish media reported.
The opening ceremony was attended by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Vice-President Fuat Oktay, speaker of the Turkish parliament Mustafa Sentop, Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu and other Turkish officials.
The construction of the cathedral mosque began in 2013. Its total area is 125 thousand square meters, its capacity is 15 thousand people. A library with historical Islamic manuscripts will be opened in the mosque on an area of 3.5 thousand square meters.
