Turkish ambassador: Astana should take measures regarding Gulen schools

Turkey is expecting the Kazakh government to take urgent measures regarding schools related to opposition activist Fethullah Gulen.

"Following the coup attempt, we are expecting the Kazakh side to take urgent and practical measures regarding this organization and its cells," Turkish Ambassador to Kazakhstan Nevzat Uyanik said at a press briefing in Astana.

"The education establishment officially opened with the support of the authorities, the Turkish government, is the Khoja Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University in Turkestan. All the other education establishments operating in Kazakhstan under the name of 'Kazakh-Turkish schools' or 'Kazakh-Turkish lyceums' have nothing to do with the authorities of our country," Interfax cited him as saying.

"Further operation of these institutions is an area for Kazakhstan's authorities. Our country has seen the danger, and it is our duty to warn friendly nations," the diplomat said.
