55-year-old Mahmut Karaarslan has been appointed the new chief of the Ankara police, the Turkish authorities announced. He has worked in the law enforcement bodies in the south-east of the country.
The post of the Ankara police chief remained vacant after the dismissal of Kadri Kartal on October 10, 2015.
The head of the opposition Republican People's Party, Kemal Kilicdaroglu, criticized the country’s Interior Ministry for not being able to find a suitable candidate for this post, Trend reports.
