Turkish journalist given suspended sentence for insulting Davutoglu

Turkish journalist Bulent Kenes, the former editor-in-chief of Today’s Zaman, has got 14 months of probation on the charge of insulting Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu in a Twitter post.

Kenes's lawyer Caglayan Erginay said that the "tweets should be considered within the scope of press freedom under the client's journalistic identity and the constitutional freedom of expression" but the court decided to reject the lawyer's application, RIA Novosti reports.
