The Turkish police have used tear gas against protesters on Taksim Square in Istanbul.
It is reported that a few hundred residents gathered on the central square of the city in order to protest against the military operation against the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), as well as against the imposition of curfews in the cities of Sur, Diyarbakir, Cizre and Silopi.
According to Reuters, several people were detained by law enforcement officers.
