The Turkish ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) is ready to normalize relations with the opposition Republican People's Party (CHP). This was announced by Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, speaking in the Turkish Parliament on June 26.

"There is no political alliance between the main opposition and the ruling party. There will be a softening of relations. There will be normalization, but there will be no alliance. This is contrary to the nature of a multi-party system",

the Turkish President said.

He noted that they strove to find common views on issues that are relevant to the country and the Turkish people.

"We are trying to strengthen internal consensus on issues such as the civil constitution and foreign policy",

Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said.

In addition to this, he appealed to the CHP to abandon the policy of tension.

"You see how they have provided political patronage to the enemies of democracy, how they play with the fault lines in society for their political interests. Our efforts to reach consensus with them are actually an attempt to normalize the opposition, which is what needs to be done",

the Turkish leader said.

The President of the Republic also expects that the Republican People's Party will act based on national interests.
