Turkmen manat remains stable and does not drop because of tenge

The Turkmen manat did not respond to the drop of Kazakhstan's tenge. Now the currency rate is stable at the level of 1 dollar per 3.5 manats. The current parity of the national currency and the dollar was established on January 1st 2015. Earlier, before last year's devaluation, 2.85 manats were given for 1 dollar, and this rate existed from May of 2008.

It is reported that there is no agiotage in bureaux de change of the country, and the devaluation of the national currency of Kazakhstan did not revive demand for dollars.

It should be noted that the oil and gas industry is the main source of money to the treasury of Turkmenistan, however due to the drop in prices for energy resources, experts predict that hard times await the country. So Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on August 14 ordered the preparation of a series of anti-crisis measures to minimize the effects of falling prices for oil and gas, RIA Novosti reports.
