Turkmenistan suspends visa free regime with Kazakhstan

Turkmenistan has suspended the visa free regime for residents of bordering Kazakh regions.

"In connection with the celebration of the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence, the Turkmen authorities are stepping up security on the border and suspend the visa free regime for foreign citizens until October 27," AKIpress cited the report as saying.

Currently, there are two checkpoints at the Kazakh-Turkmen border - the Temir-Baba road checkpoint and the Bolashak railroad checkpoint.
