Armenian President Armen Sarkisyan signed decrees appointing Arthur Martirosyan and Tigran Yesayan as Armenian police deputy chiefs, the presidential press office reports.
One of these positions became vacant on September 19, after the appointment of Arman Sargsyan, the then first deputy chief, as acting chief of the Armenian Police Department, after one day earlier, Valery Osipyan, the then police chief, resigned.
The other vacancy emerged on October 24, after the dismissal of Hovhannes Kocharyan as chief of the police staff. According to media reports, his dismissal came after he voiced his disagreement about politicization of the police chief position, ARKA recalls.
