Two more Democrat senators speak in support of Iran deal

Another two US senators from the Democratic party – Jon Tester (Montana) and Al Franken (Minnesota) – have spoken in support of the agreement on the Iranian nuclear program during debates on the vote in Congress, which will be held in September.

"I am confident that our armed forces and intelligence agencies will be closely monitoring Iran. The International Atomic Energy Agency will conduct active surveillance," Tester pointed out, noting that, as a result, Washington will be able to monitor Tehran more closely than since the 70s.

"This is not a perfect agreement," TASS quotes Franken as saying.

But "this is the most effective, realistic way to stop Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon within the next 15 years," the Senator from Minnesota stressed.

At the moment, 18 democratic senators have already supported the agreement on Iran. In total, in order for the Republican opposition not to block a deal with Tehran, 34 votes are required.
