Two people suffered injuries in a fire in the Grand Setun Plaza business center in western Moscow, a spokesperson for the Russian Emergencies Ministry said on Friday.
"As of 11:00 am Moscow time, a fire engulfing 1,100 square meters was active in the eight-story building of the Grand Setun Plaza business center. According to preliminary reports, two people suffered injuries, 120 were evacuated and 11 were rescued through the use of special equipment," TASS cited the spokesperson as saying.
Meanwhile, Moscow’s operations center said that 125 people had been evacuated from the building, one injured person had been taken to the Sklifosovsky Institute.
Firefighting activities involve over 340 personnel and about 100 pieces of equipment, including three helicopters.
The blaze was classified as a five-alarm fire. Russian Emergencies Minister Alexander Kurenkov is currently at the scene of the fire. An emergencies source told TASS that the fire had been triggered by a short circuit caused by an improper installation of facade lighting.
According to the Emergencies Ministry, the fire has been contained.
