Two people killed in Tel Aviv car explosion

An explosion was reported in Hatikva Quarter in Israel's Tel Aviv on Sunday night. Two cars went up in flames, the local police said.

The bodies of two men in their thirties were extricated from one car and their deaths were pronounced at the scene, according to initial reports from Magen David Adom. 

One person was lightly injured and was evacuated to the hospital.

The police have determined that the explosion was of a criminal nature. The men who were killed are known to the police and it is suspected that they were deliberately targeted as part of a gang war, the Jerusalem Post reported.
