U.S. and Poland confirm stance against Nord Stream-2

The U.S. and Poland have confirmed their joint stance against the Nord Stream-2 natural gas pipeline, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said at a news conference following his meeting with Polish Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz.

“Poland has vigorously pursued a course to reduce its dependence on Russian natural gas," Pompeo said.

"We continue to work with Poland and other likeminded European allies and partners to stop Russia’s proposed Nord Stream 2 pipeline, which would undermine European energy and national security while also hurting Ukraine,” the State Department website cited him as saying.

Czaputowicz also said that Poland thinks that the Nord Stream-2 “does not contribute to energy security of Europe.”
