Syria is working with the United States to reach security understandings with Israel in the country’s south, the Syrian Foreign Ministry said.
According to the ministry, Damascus and Washington were working to reach security understandings with Israel as part of a plan for stability announced earlier in the day with U.S. and Jordanian support for Suwayda province.
“The United States, in consultation with the Syrian government, will work to reach security understandings with Israel concerning southern Syria that address the legitimate security concerns of both Syria and Israel while emphasising Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” the statement reads.
The statement came shortly after Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani announced a seven-step roadmap to resolve the crisis in the southern city of Suwayda, following talks in Damascus with his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi.
