U.S. urges Russia to help reduce Azerbaijan-Armenia violence

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken raised the possibility that Russia can help reduce the violence, saying such action would be a welcome development.

"If Russia can actually use its own influence for good, which is to, again, calm the waters, end the violence, and urge people to engage in good faith on building peace, that would be a positive thing," he told reporters in the state of Indiana.

On the night of September 12 and in the morning hours of September 13, units of the Armenian armed forces carried out a large-scale provocation in the Dashkesan, Kalbajar and Lachin directions of the Azerbaijani-Armenian border.
