UN Deputy Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs arrives in Yemen

The UN Deputy Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Stephen O'Brien, arrived in Sana'a today.

During his visit on August 9-13 he plans to get acquainted with the scale of the humanitarian disaster in Yemen and assess the measures needed to satisfy the growing needs of the population. "In Sana'a and Aden, O'Brien will discuss with key officials ways to strengthen humanitarian programs for the preservation of lives and the protection of civilians. He hopes to meet with the families of refugees in the cities of Amran and Aden," RIA Novosti reported with reference to the TV channel Sky News Arabia.

The Deputy Secretary-General is also going to visit Djibouti.
